About My Process

Each original painting begins by prepping and priming the canvas with 2 coats of gesso. After the gesso is dry, the canvas is hand sanded by me to a smooth surface.

Next I sketch my design on the prepared canvas using a pencil.

I begin applying acrylic paints gradually, building up the colors gradually over the course of many days. Many times this process takes weeks.

When I am happy with the results I allow the painting to dry for several days.

The next step is to apply an isolation coat applied with a brush.

Next part of finishing my art is to apply two coats of an acrylic varnish. The varnish is a glossy coat that protects the painting from dust and prevents the colors from fading.

I initial the front of the original artwork and add my signature and year painted to the back.

I add hardware and hanging wire to the back of each painting for ease of hanging.

All of my artwork is finished on the sides with either a black color or the background color in the painting. This gives a nice neat, finished appearance so that you don't have to add a frame if you don't want to.

To care for your original painting, use a soft cloth to remove any dust. Please do not use any household cleaners or dusting products on the painting.
